Managing Profitability Analysis Accounts
Profitability analysis accounts are managed by two apps in the Longview Transfer Pricing system:
- Manage Profitability Analysis Accounts – To add, delete and modify profitability account symbols.
- Manage Profitability Analysis Automations – To add default, entity or group override settings that control the automation calculation.
The automation calculation will automatically transfer data from the Trial Balance to the profitability analysis hierarchy. The source and target dimensions are specified within the Manage Profitability Analysis Automations app, but the selections that can be made within that app are defined by values in the profitability source and target attributes.
Profitability Analysis Attributes
The following attributes control what source and target symbols are used for automated profitability analysis accounts:

| ASLTPProfitablityAccountSource | Specifies the list of symbol structures where source accounts can be selected from for automated accounts. Default is INCSTMT. Note: If you add additional roots to the account source you will need to add additional event rules to trigger the event for data changes in the additional hierarchies. |
| ASLTPProfitabilityDXSource | Specifies the source symbol for automated profitability analysis calculations in dimension X. |
| ASLTPProfitabilityDXTarget | Specifies the target symbol for automated profitability analysis calculations in dimension X. |
| ASLTPEntityRoot | Specifies the entities structure that can be selected from for entity automation overrides. Default is ENTITIES_LTP. |
For the ASLTPProfitabilityDXSource and ASLTPProfitabilityDXtarget attributes, the values are ignored for the following dimensions:

The following dimensions do not have default values set:
- Details
- Segments
- Controls
The source and target attributes can be updated once hierarchy structures for the corresponding dimensions have been implemented.
Attribute behavior
The following rules apply when setting profitability source and target attributes:
- If both the source and target attributes are left blank for a given dimension, the calculation will run on any triggered symbol within that dimension and transfer from the source triggered symbol to the same target symbol.
Note: Source and target attributes must both be set or both be blank for dimension
- If the target attribute is a leaf symbol, automation settings for the target will not need to be set. It will always use the specified leaf level symbol.
- If both the source and target attributes are leaf symbols, automation settings for the source or target will not need to be set. It will always use the specified leaf level symbols.
Note: If you change the source attributes for profitability analysis you also need to adjust the event rules (5701010 and 5701110) to match the source and the manual triggers for EVNT_5701000 and EVNT_5701100 via the Administration > Calculations > Events Setup app.
