Run allocations
Run Allocations allows you to run configured allocations within your system.
For more information on setting up allocations, see the “Implementing Allocations” section of the Longview Close and Plan Implementer’s Guide or the Longview Transfer Pricing Implementer's Guide.
Accessing run allocations
- Select the Consolidate module (Longview Close) or the Transfer Pricing module (Longview Transfer Pricing)
- Select the Administration category.
- Expand Allocations.
- Click Run Allocations.
- Select a leaf or parent time period to run the allocations on.
Note: For Longview Close, only Period Activity Actual, Period Activity Budget or Period Activity Forecast time periods can be selected to run allocations on.
For Longview Transfer Pricing, only time periods from within the Tax Process Current Period (CYTAXPER) hierarchy can be selected to run allocations on. - The Run Allocation view appears.
Running allocations
In the Run Allocation view, the list of active allocations in the system are displayed.
Note: If you are using time specific allocations, only the allocations related to the time period(s) you have selected will display in the Run Allocations view.
This section provides information on these main topics:
Run Allocation View
The following information is displayed for each active allocation within the Run Allocation view:
Allocation view | Description |
---|---|
Run Allocation | If this option is checked, the allocation will run when the submit button is clicked. Note: The run allocation option will be disabled if the allocation is invalid |
ID | The ID of the allocation will be displayed |
Category | The category of the allocation will be displayed. |
Description | The description of the allocation will be displayed. |
Processing Order | The processing order of the allocation will be displayed. This is the order in which the allocations will run if multiple allocations have been selected. |
Time Period | The period for which the allocation was defined. Note: This column will only display in systems using time period specific allocations. |
Status | The status of the allocation is displayed. The status can be one of the following:
|
Selecting all allocations
To select all allocations to run, click the “Select All Allocations” toolbar button in the Run Allocations view. This will select all allocations in the view.
Triggering allocations
To trigger an allocation, ensure the desired allocations have been checked off in the Run Allocation column and click Submit. The status of the allocation should change the In Progress: <time period> to indicate that the allocation is running.
Note: If you are using time period specific allocations, the time period will not display in the In Progress message - the allocation will only be run on the time period for which it was defined, displayed in the Time Period column.
Allocation processing order
Allocation processing order is used to define allocations that must be complete (calculated, submitted, and processed by the server), before the next allocation is executed. When multiple allocations are executed at the same time, processing will pause (wait for submission and server calculations), in the following case:
- Multiple allocations are selected, and
- Within the allocations selected there are different process order values, and
- Within the allocations selected there are different non-zero process order values.
Parallel allocation execution
If parallel allocation execution is configured in your system allocations will be triggered as follows:
- Each period selected will be triggered independently
- Each group of allocations will be triggered independently
- A different account will be used to trigger each group (a symbol under EVNT_5400000 or EVNT_5700000 (tax or transfer pricing)
- A group is defined as:
- An allocation with a processing order of 0
- A set of allocations with processing order not 0
- If parallel categories are enabled, each group will be for a different category.
- Each allocation group triggered will appear as a separate submission (to trigger the allocations) and a separate event.
Testing an allocation
You can test an allocation by running the Allocation Proof application.
