System setup for key performance indicators

The Solutions Framework provides you with a standard set of key performance indicator symbols.

For more information on the standard key performance indicator setup provided as part of the Solutions Framework, see System summary

This section provides an overview of the steps required to add any additional key performance indicator accounts to your Longview system as well as any modifications needed to the standard key performance indicator set up

This section will provide information on the following topics:

Creating a new key performance indicator

Additional key performance indicators can be created as required in your Longview system. Any new key performance indicators must be:

  1. Created in the ACCOUNTS dimension within one of the categories in the ACCOUNTS_KPI hierarchy.
  2. Have a symbol type of:
    1. STATIC, if the key performance indicator is to be calculated directly at parent levels.
    2. STANDARD or CARRYFORWARD, if the key performance indicator can be calculated at a parent level via roll up.
  3. Have a balance type of NEITHER.
  4. Have a roll up weight of 0.

Note: The default sorting for these symbols is alphabetical, so to set a specific order, name the key performance indicators appropriately. Changing the name subsequently may require changes to the calculation.

Specifying a key performance indicator calculation

Depending on the nature of the calculation and your reporting requirements a key performance calculation can be implemented as one of the following:

  1. A MODEL rule.

For details on creating model rules, see the Longview Application Administrator Guide.

  2. An event.

For details on event setup, see System setup, events.

  3. A manually triggered calculation process.
