Working with tax account rollforward data transfer

As a Tax Administrator, you may want to specify the way data behaves for tax account rollforward. As

To view and print the current configuration settings for Tax Account Rollforward Data Transfer, use the following reports:

  • XCC0006 — Tax Account Rollforward Data Transfer Settings.rtp
  • XCC1006 — Tax Account Rollforward Data Transfer Settings-Total Tax.rtp
  • XCC1007 — Tax Account Rollforward Data Transfer Settings-Income Tax.rtp

Configuring tax account rollforward data transfer

You can use the Tax Account Rollforward Data Transfer editor to map the provision values for the account/element combination in the Tax Account Rollforward. Longview Tax allows for various types of processes to copy the data into the tax account rollforward. The mappings and settings entered are global and are used by all entities in the system.

To configure tax account rollforward data transfer:

  1. In the Tax Provision navigation pane, click Administration.
  2. Expand Accounts.
  3. Click Tax Account Rollforward Data Transfer. The Tax Account Rollforward Data Transfer editor opens in the workspace.
  4. On the editor toolbar, click Timeframe.
  5. In the Timeframe box, select the timeframe to edit mappings for:
    • TFACTUAL—The actual TARF mappings.
    • TFINTERIM—The interim TARF mappings.
    • TFInterimExcl—The interim excluded TARF mappings.
    • Custom—Custom TARF mappings. For information on creating a custom TARF timeframe, see the Tax Provision Implementer’s Guide.
  6. Click Update. The page updates to reflect the selected timeframe.
  7. In the Automated Elements list, select the tax account rollforward element for which to review/update the tax account settings.

    Note: To add or remove elements from the list of Automated Elements, click Automate on the editor toolbar. The selected Target Elements will be included in the list of Automated Elements. All Automated Elements will be cleared during the TARF calculation regardless of whether any accounts for that element have been defined to be automated.

  8. For Automate, do one of the following:
    • Select the check box to automate tax account rollforward data transfer for this account. The row becomes editable.
    • Clear the check box to input data manually for this account.
  9. If you selected Automate, complete the following fields:
    FieldNotes

    Source Accounts

    Select one or more source accounts for the target data.

    Source Details

    Select one or more source details for the target data.

    Source Elements

    Select one or more source elements for the target data.

    Sign Reversal

    Select this option to reverse the sign during transfer.

  10. Repeat for each target account.
  11. When you are finished, click Save.
  12. If you want to run calculations based on the changes you have made, click Run Calculations.

Copying element settings for TARF accounts

If you have previously configured tax account rollforward settings for a specific element, and you have another element that should use similar settings, you can copy the settings from that element.

Copying element settings copies settings to all accounts.

To copy element settings:

  1. In the Tax Provision navigation pane, click Administration.
  2. Expand Accounts.
  3. Click Tax Account Rollforward Data Transfer. The Tax Account Rollforward Data Transfer editor opens in the workspace.
  4. On the editor toolbar, click Timeframe.
  5. In the Timeframe box, select the timeframe to edit mappings for:
    • TFACTUAL—The actual TARF mappings.
    • TFINTERIM—The interim TARF mappings.
    • TFInterimExcl—The interim excluded TARF mappings.
    • Custom—Custom TARF mappings. For information on creating a custom TARF timeframe, see the Tax Provision Implementer’s Guide.
  6. Click Update. The page updates to reflect the selected timeframe.
  7. In the Automated Elements list, select the tax account rollforward element that you want to copy settings to.
  8. Click Copy Element Settings. The Copy Settings dialog opens.
  9. Select the element in the list that you want to copy settings from.
  10. Click Copy. The element settings are copied to the specified element.
  11. When you are finished, click Save.
  12. If you want to run calculations based on the changes you have made, click Run Calculations.

Exporting tax account rollforward settings to Microsoft Excel

You can use the Tax Account Rollforward Data Transfer editor to export the tax account rollforward mappings and settings to Microsoft Excel.

To export tax account rollforward settings to Microsoft Excel:

  1. In the Tax Provision navigation pane, click Administration.
  2. Expand Accounts.
  3. Click Tax Account Rollforward Data Transfer. The Tax Account Rollforward Data Transfer editor opens in the workspace.
  4. Click Export to Excel. The Save As dialog opens.
  5. Navigate to the location where you want the file to be saved.
  6. Type the name of the file you want the tax account rollforward settings to be exported to.
  7. Click Save. The file opens in Microsoft Excel.

Copying element settings for TARF accounts

  10. Click Copy. The element settings are copied to the specified element.
  11. When you are finished, click Save.
  12. If you want to run calculations based on the changes you have made, click Run Calculations.

Exporting tax account rollforward settings to Microsoft Excel

You can use the Tax Account Rollforward Data Transfer editor to export the tax account rollforward mappings and settings to Microsoft Excel.

To export tax account rollforward settings to Microsoft Excel:

  1. In the Tax Provision navigation pane, click Administration.
  2. Expand Accounts.
  3. Click Tax Account Rollforward Data Transfer. The Tax Account Rollforward Data Transfer editor opens in the workspace.
  4. Click Export to Excel. The Save As dialog opens.
  5. Navigate to the location where you want the file to be saved.
  6. Type the name of the file you want the tax account rollforward settings to be exported to.
  7. Click Save. The file opens in Microsoft Excel.
